Love is a feeling that lasts. Infatuation is a feeling that can last for a long time too, but it tends to fade sooner than "true love." It's also important to note that infatuation can often lead people into making decisions they wouldn't make if they were thinking clearly. If you find yourself making rash decisions because of your feelings for someone else, it's probably best if you take some time alone and think about what's really important to you before moving forward with anything big in your life.
Love is patient and kind. Infatuation isn't necessarily either of those things—it might be impatient or even abusive at times. Love does not envy, but it does expect good things for both partners in the relationship; infatuation tends only toward selfishness and may even encourage jealousy or other bad behaviors from one person toward another.
Love, on the other hand, does not.
